Location
Sydney, Australia
The Beyond Qubits Workshop 2026 takes place in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Sydney is one of Australia’s major international gateways and is well connected to the rest of the world. The city offers a mix of harbour scenery, beaches, cultural institutions, and a strong quantum research community, making it an excellent setting for the workshop.

Main workshop venue
Sergeants’ Mess, Chowder Bay
The main workshop sessions on Days 1–3 will be held at Sergeants’ Mess, located at Building 20, Chowder Bay Road, Chowder Bay NSW 2088. The venue overlooks Chowder Bay and Sydney Harbour and is set within native bushland on Sydney’s lower north shore.

Getting to the workshop venue
By air
Most international and interstate participants will arrive via Sydney Airport (SYD). Sydney Airport is located about 8 km from the CBD and is accessible by train, bus, taxi, and rideshare.
From the airport to the city
Sydney Airport provides several transport options, including train, taxi, rideshare, and airport transfer services. For most visitors staying in central Sydney, reaching the CBD from the airport is straightforward.
Getting to Sydney
Water taxi transfers
We will provide water taxi transfers between the city (Circular Quay) and Sergeants’ Mess in the morning and late afternoon. This will be the most convenient option for participants and will help simplify access to the venue.
You will need to arrange your own transport if you miss the water taxi.
Public transport and taxi
You will need to arrange your own transport if you miss the water taxi. Sergeants’ Mess can be reached by public transport or taxi. Paid parking is also available opposite the venue.
Travel and Accommodation
Recommended accommodation areas
We recommend staying in or near Sydney CBD, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo, or North Sydney, as these areas provide good access to the harbour and to the morning workshop water taxi transfers.
Meals
Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the workshop program.
Conference dinner will be on 3 December (Thursday) in Sydney CBD.
Weather
December is early summer in Sydney. Participants should expect warm weather and are encouraged to bring light clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for any outdoor social activities.
Travel support
The workshop is being organised on a limited budget, and we are not currently planning to cover travel or accommodation costs for participants unless explicitly arranged for special circumstances.
Visas
International participants should use the Australian Government’s official Visa Finder to determine what type of visa they may need. For many visitors, the process is straightforward, but requirements vary by passport and travel purpose. If you require an invitation letter or any other documentation to support your application, please contact the organising committee.
